Scotch Bonnet, also known as a bonney pepper, is a variety of chilli pepper named for its resemblance to a tam o' shanter hat. It is ubiquitous in West Africa and mostly assiciated with the Caribbean. Most Scotch Bonnets have an average heat rating of 250,000 Scoville heat units, but can reach as high as 350,000, so be prepared!
How best to use Scotch Bonnet Red Chillies?
These peppers are used to flavour many different dishes and cuisines worldwide and are often used in hot sauces and condiments. The Scotch bonnet has a sweet flavour and scent. Its stouter shape is distinct from its habanero relative with which it is often confused.
Why Choose So Sow Garden Grow Kits?
Here at SoSowGarden I grow and source the best quality seeds. I only harvest the fruits when they are at their most ripe, this ensures the seeds you'll have will be at their strongest. For the quickest germination results, sow seeds within the first year of purchase. There are hundreds of quick germination techniques out there, and a successful common rule for seeds with a hard husk is to soak them for 6-12 hours before planting. Chilli, Pumpkin, Jeera & Sesame are examples of these kind of seeds that need that little soak! I'm always here to help you along the way, so do drop me a message and I'll give advice where possible.
All paper used is FSC sourced and all cardboard is from recycled sources. The only plastic used is the bags for the soil mix and the seeds. There are plenty of uses for these bags when using your grow kit. Use them as extra pots, as a mini greenhouse, to isolate cross pollinated flowers and of course to keep the seeds from your next harvest!
All grow kits are designed and handmade in the UK by me.

Seed germination takes time, so don't panic! If in winter months, please don't expect fruitful results. The best time to sow seeds in western Europe for plants like this is February/early spring. They can germinate in winter if indoors, but growth rate will be very slow for the obvious fact that it's winter.
See returns policy on individual items, but also note I accept returns if the package is damaged upon arrival to you within 3 business days.
